DIFFERENCE OF RPN/RN

There are many differences between the two programs. The RPN program is two years in length and you graduate with a diploma. The focus of the program is mainly practical. The BScN is a university-granted bachelor’s degree program and is four years in length. The program involves a greater breadth and depth of coursework and studying. Practical nursing students learn how to look after the stable client whereas baccalaureate students look after clients who can be stable and those who are unstable and could be critically ill.

Career opportunities are much broader with an RN designation than the RPN designation.
There is also a difference in the entrance requirements. The RPN program tests students in Biology, Chemistry, Math and English for entrance into the program. The RN program looks at specific academic requirements.
